The HEA group has a leading role as task coordinator for the maintenance of the communications system for the Pierre Auger Observatory. Depicted below is an overview of the complete communications system ("Comms") network topology for the Pierre Auger Observatory (South). Primary Comms systems include subscriber unit radio receiver/transmitters on each Auger SD station and a network of five communications towers linked by a high-speed microwave data communications backbone.
